There will be a photographer & videographer capturing the Gala. By virtue of attending, you are agreeing to NJPCSA using any video or photographs taken for the purposes of advancing the mission of the organization.
Sessions
We will be featuring four highly relevant training sessions on advocacy topics. Each training will be one hour and there will be two sessions running concurrently. Attendees will select two trainings (one at 2PM and one at 3PM) to attend based on their interests.
2PM-3PM: Grow Support with Effective Messaging, Peri Lynn Turnbull, PLT Strategies Group
Hear the results of NJPCSA’s New Jersey voter and parent poll, the newest research-based messages, and how to positively position charter schools as part of the solution to broader issues in public education and our communities. Together, with the use of effective messages, we can grow support for public charter schools and our legislative priorities.
2PM-3PM: Public Charter Schools and the New Jersey Political Environment, Harry Lee and TJ Best, NJPCSA
After this session, participants will be able to identify key decision makers and how high-stakes charter school decisions are made in New Jersey. Participants will also gain a better understanding of how politics play a key role in public education and New Jersey’s public charter schools.
3PM-4PM: Building the Advocate Community, Peri Lynn Turnbull, PLT Strategies Group
Every member of the charter school community – charter school board members, leaders, teachers, students, parents and community supporters - is a potentially powerful advocate for their school and the charter school community more broadly in our state. Hear how we can engage our communities to raise their voices to effectively tell the charter school story to diverse audiences and the actions they can take so that we can collectively grow support for charter schools.
3PM-4PM: Current Topics in New Jersey Charter School Law, Tom Johnston, Johnston Law Firm
The presentation will share key recent legal developments affecting charter schools, including segregation claims, special education compliance and transportation regulations.
